On 28thMarch, class 3 F went to Carcano Theatre in Milan and saw a musical -Robin Hood, performed by Palkettostage troupe.

The Plot

This musical deals with the well-known legend of Robin Hood, the famous archer, and his rebel group, the “Merry men”.

The Merry Men are Little John, Will Scarlett, Friar Tuck and Much who, armed only with their arches, rob rich people to feed the poor - they are described as «gentlemen thieves and honest villains».

In the story, they fight against the illegitimate Prince John, who has taken the throne from his brother, King Richard “The Lionheart” while he is in the Holy Land taking part to the Third Crusade.

Their main enemy is the Sheriff of Nottingham and their secret hideaway is in the Forest of Sherwood.

Two other characters join the “Merry Men” during the story: Miriam and Alan-a-Dale.

Miriam is a beautiful country girl living just outside the forest in a windmill. She soon falls in love with Robin Hood. Alan-a-Dale is a knight at risk of losing his family’s castle because of King John's very high taxes. In the story the Sheriff of Nottingham persuades Alan-a-Dale's girlfriend, Lady Anne, that he has been killed in a battle to have the possibility to marry her.

The story ends with the death of the Sheriff of Nottingham and the rescue of Miriam, who has been accused of being a witch and sentenced to death only to trap Robin.

I liked this Musical a lot, and also my friends did - we enjoyed this performance because the actors were really good and both music and special effects were of high level, in short, absolutely worth seeing!

Much better than going to the cinema!

Sincerely I had some doubts about going to see Robin Hoodin English, a story that i knew very little about. Even though not all the students paid attention, I liked it.

The show has been proposed in the form of musical, a choice that I have found very appropriate as it combines music with the theatre. The history is made pleasant by the frequent and fast changes of scenes and by costumes and special effects. It is also short and fast thanks to the choice of show a musical. The dialogues are alternated by passages of folk and Celtic music. The choreography represents a very important part of the musical, because it accompanies the "Performance" and musical complets it.

Frankly I have found the plot interesting and charming. When I read it, in fact I found again the same thing in the show. I subsequently remained struck by the fluency of the plot that is composed of many twists and leaves, in many scenes, the spectator with bated breath.

In conclusion I have found the Robin Hood musical's addictive and interesting. I have also found it appreciable from the technical and musical point of view. I particularly liked the show, and I recommend it to everyone!
